Work Overview
The queer experience is a strange one. On one hand, individuals are pressured by compulsive heteronormativity to conform to straight relationships, irrespective of their true sexual or romantic orientations. On the other hand, we grapple with self-doubt and self-gaslighting, constantly striving to affirm to ourselves and others that our queerness is genuine and not merely a phase or a trial run.
Pilot Q is my musical homage to every queer individual who has felt the need to prove that they deserve to be loved just as they are. The piece navigates through a whirlwind of repetitive gestures, building towards a cathartic climax, before settling into a bubbly calm. Pilot Q is not about proving anything; it is a debut.
