Work Overview

Two Pieces for piano consists of 'Untethered spaces' and 'Now toccata'. It is the fourth and final pair of short pieces in the opus 100 set. The previous three pairs are: Op. 100, No. 1, Prelude and Postscript; Op. 100, No. 2, Two Interludes; and Op. 100, No. 3, Moon and Ocean. The entire set was composed over the period between 2015 and 2018 and each piece draws on material from other larger pieces composed in the same period.
