Library shelf no. 785.2417/BUD 1 [Available for loan]
This short piece was written for the Centenary of Canberra celebrations. The theme for this concert was water and hence the title Clepsydra or Water clock. I was inspired by some of the images of waterclocks from ancient times to modern designs.
Just like a waterclock, this piece doesn't stop running. The piano is musically the engine that powers the clock. Although very short, this piece is very intense due to the non-stop playing of most of the instruments.
Instrumentation: Flute, bass flute, harp, piano, semi-acoustic bass guitar, violin, cello.
Duration: 3 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — rhythmically slightly challenging - change of time signatures
Commission note: Commissioned for the Centenary of Canberra celebrations - Water
