No One Could Relax around Jezebel : for soprano and metal percussion / music by Andrew Ford ; words by Anne Carson.
Library shelf no. 783.66542/FOR 6 [Available for loan]
This piece is perhaps best thought of as music theatre, though there is no 'action' as such. I first read Anne Carson's poems in the London Review of Books and they immediately suggested a soprano voice competing with a jangly percussive noise. The poems are used by kind permission of the poet.
Instrumentation: Soprano, metal percussion.
Duration: 17 min.
Contents note: Continuous work in four sections: 1. Shame Stack -- 2. Stack of What Made Jezebel Jezebel -- 3. Cheapjack Stack -- 4. Thunderstorm Stack.
Dedication note: To the memory of Jenny Morrish.
