Library shelf no. 785.6813/HIN 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
Siegfried Interlude No. 3 was commissioned by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for first performance at the launch of their 2000 Season. One of the things that Wagner's Ring Cycle is known for is its use of anvils, in particular, the anvil chorus. In this piece metallic percussion is used, exclusively. Each player is required to play two anvils, two crotales and two tuned cowbells. Both rhythmic and melodic motives are used from Siegfried in this work.
