Andrea Keller Quartet's album Wave Rider has won one of this year's Australian Jazz Bell Awards, in the category 'Best Australian Modern Jazz Album'. The award ceremony was organised in Melbourne on Thursday night. A highlight of the evening was the induction of Judy Bailey, one of Australia's leading musicians and composers, into the Jazz Hall of Fame.

The winning Wave Rider album by Andrea Keller Quartet (Keller, Eugene Ball, Ian Whitehurst, Joe Talia) also features violinist & improviser Erkki Veltheim, violinist Helen Ayres, violist Matt Laing and cellist Zoe Knighton.

Julien Wilson and his Quartet (Wilson, Barney McAll, Jonathan Zwartz, Allan Browne) were by far the most successful nominees this year, winning three awards. Wilson's 'Trout River' won the Best Australian Jazz Song of the Year award, while Julien Wilson Quartet was ranked the Best Australian Jazz Ensemble and also awarded for the Best Australian Traditional Jazz Album (for This is Always).
