Classical:NEXT have announced the line-up of showcases and project pitches for this year's conference, taking place in Berlin, Germany between 12-15 May.

Violinist and composer Jane Aubourg (and AMC's own Music Resources, Representation, and Awards Coordinator) has been selected to represent Australia as a showcasing artist with her major solo project, Play Me Mend Me. The project is centred on the sculptural instrument created by Anita Johnson, as an exploration of chronic pain as a result of violin practice. Jane is one of 16 international artists selected for the showcase line-up.

Elsewhere on the conference program, Australia is well-represented across the project pitches - fast-moving presentations targeted at artists seeking opportunities for collaboration and inspiration, and allowing creators to offer a rapid insight into their current offerings.

Melbourne-based ensemble Rubiks Collective will present Kate Neal's A Book of Hours - a work blending traditional instruments with electronics and household objects.

Vanessa Tomlinson will present three concert-length works under the Clocked Out banner - a duo with pianist Erik Griswold - including Peak Plastique, The Oxbow, and Opera of Objects featuring oboist Cathy Milliken.

Twice ARIA-nominated composer-pianist Nat Bartsch will perform a suite of lullabies from Forever Changed, accomodating to the experience of neurodivergent audience members. (Nat will also perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, following Classical:NEXT!) Burke Turner will present Belle Chen's Ravel in the Forest, a live concert version that reimagines the music of Maurice Ravel with synth and modern sonics. Ciaran Frame will present Concerts of the Future, which imagines a new and accessible concert experience made possible through VR, as well as a workshop about audience participation in art music.

Stay tuned for more announcements from Classical:NEXT, including our 2025 Australian Fellows.
