Event Details

The UQ String Orchestra is one of Brisbane’s most exciting youth string orchestras. Over the past two decades the Orchestra has attracted some of the most promising young musicians. Performance highlights have included QPAC’s ‘Out of the Box’ Festival and performances with The Queensland Ballet at Optus Playhouse. In 2010, the Orchestra will be under the direction of founder and artistic director of Topology and UQ Lecturer in Composition, Dr Robert Davidson.

In celebration of the centenary, UQ String Orchestra will perform Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach’s Symphony in Eb for string orchestra and Dr Robert Davidson’s Elegy, from the film The Burial.

Formed in 2004 from music students of The University of Queensland, the So-la Voce Chamber Choir draws mainly on polyphonic vocal works of the Western European Renaissance and Early Baroque period but also includes 20th century and contemporary genres. Last year, So-la Voce competed in the Australian National Eisteddfod in Canberra where they received first place in the Open Contemporary Choir, Open Sacred Choir and Australian Open Championship sections.

Conductor and Musical Director, Réka Csernyik will conduct So-la Voce in a program of Mateo Fletxa, Stephen Leek, Ross Edwards and Andrew Watson.
