Event Details
Laugh until it hurts! Sound and image interplay in a raucously hilarious retake on Ha Ha Ha, the sassy Betty Boop cartoon, once banned in the USA for the misuse of dentistry tools. Counterpointed with Boop, is Jacob TV’s Heartbreakers, darkly comic collage of looped, layered and recontextualised sound bites from the bizarre culture of American talk shows, mirrored by an exciting electroacoustic performance driving the pulse rate.
Hear the world premiere of Tim Dargaville's Kolam, rhythmically deep and exciting with unique melodic sense, taking Indian music as a starting point and the saxophone quartet as its end.
A world premiere of a politically charged, satirical new work by Adrian Luca rounds out a program that explores humour and heartache.
Continuum Sax invites you to join them in the gorgeous Independent Theatre, Sydney’s oldest Edwardian theatre, to experience an exhilarating evening of entertainment.
Program includes: Tim Dargaville Kolam (World Premiere); Adrian Luca New Work (World Premiere), Martin Kay Laughing Gas (World Premiere), Jacob Ter Veldhuis Heartbreakers
Performers: Continuum Sax: Christina Leonard (soprano saxophone) James Nightingale (alto saxophone) Martin Kay (tenor saxophone) Nicholas Russoniello (baritone saxophone)
