Event Details

Join Lotte Betts-Dean, Libby Myers, Alex Raineri and Connor D’Netto as they come together for the premiere of POSTCARDS, presented as part of Brisbane Music Festival.

POSTCARDS explores our many complex and varied relationships to home, to travel, and to the places in our lives. This new collaborative project brings together three of Australia’s most exciting artists, UK-based mezzo-soprano and recent Royal Philharmonic Society Awards winner, Lotte Betts-Dean, and in-demand Magandjin/Brisbane artists Libby Myers (guitar) and Alex Raineri (piano). The concert centres around the world premiere of Postcards by Connor D’Netto, a song-cycle reflecting on what “home” can mean to us, settings new texts by Australian artists Aunty Delmae Barton, Megan Steller, Mathew Klotz, Han Reardon-Smith, and Kezia Yap.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
We acknowledge the Jagera and Turbal People, Traditional Owners of the lands on which we perform – lands on which First Nations communities have been creating and sharing music, art and culture for thousands of generations. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and I recognise the vital contributions First Nations communities continue to make in music and art. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Postcards was commissioned as part of the Australian Music Centre's MOMENTUM Commissions, with support provided by Hendrik Prins. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia and Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, and by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
