Marián Budoš is an internationally renowned composer and guitarist. He studied guitar in Europe with virtuoso Ján Labant in the 1980s and has performed at many festivals in Europe. In 1998, he won the prestigious SOZA Composer of year award, and has since achieved great success in many of his compositions that have received world premieres by prominent soloists, ensembles, and orchestras, locally and internationally.
Marián’s program features four of his original compositions for the classical guitar that have been inspired by nature - Songs from a Magical Garden, by the war in Ukraine - Ukrainian Boy, his much-loved dog - Coco, and the loss of a close friend - Last Train from Platform 49. He will also play his own Medley of songs that pay tribute to some of his favourite rock artists; Mark Knopfler, Sting, and Peter Gabriel. Sam Roberts is an upcoming classical guitarist currently studying his second year of his Performance degree at the ANU chool of Music under Minh Le Hoang. He has performed solo and in ensembles at embassies including the Hungarian, Austrian and Croatian Embassies as well as his own arranged ensemble performance at the Arboretum for the UAE National Day (2024). Sam’s program will feature four works spanning the baroque, romantic, and 20th century. He’ll start with a sensitive piece by Julian Arcas’ - Andante, A piece arranged for Andrés Segovia he never recorded – Sonata Op. 61 by Jaoquín Turina, movements from Sonata No. 25 by Silvius Leopod Weiss, and finally a fantastic arrangement of a 1950s French classic by Roland Dyens – La Foule by Angel Cabral and Michel Rivgauche.
