Sheet Music: Performance PartsMephisto / Andrew Schultz.by Andrew Schultz (1990)
|
Product details
Mephisto was composed in the first half of 1990 in response to a commission from Elision Ensemble with funding assistance from the Performing Arts Board of the Australia Council. The original brief for the work was to compose a sextet (flute, clarinet, guitar, violin, viola, double bass) calling on the ensemble's normal membership excluding percussion. Members of Elision gave the first performance in Melbourne in a joint concert with the visiting Italian ensemble, Gruppo Bruno Maderna. The work was performed by them in Italy the following year. Mephisto is virtuosic and exuberant and has attracted notable performances in London and Oslo and on a CD with Perihelion.
