Sheet Music: ScoreRainbow Starship / Steve Wood.by Steve Wood (1977)

Product details
Inspired by the film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", Rainbow Starship was written in 1977 in an attempt to channel the optimistic spirit of the film without actually copying John William's score. There is a recurring theme with clear similarities to William's famous 5 note motif but I feel that for the most part I got away with it! It was revised in 2009 after seeing the film again with my son. I think that what initially excited me about the movie was the idea that music could literally be a 'universal language' which could have a profound impact. Rainbow Starship is a colourful bravura piece with a positive message.
