Variations on 'The Drover's Song' : a concerto for community orchestra / Don Kay.

Library shelf no. 784.2/KAY 3 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

I approached the composition within the original definition of 'concerto', ie. composing for the orchestra to make a concerted effort to entertain the audience. When variations on a traditional Australian tune were suggested I thought of The Drover's Song. The tune seems to encapsulate an optimistic, care-free approach to life in 19th century country Australia.
