Instrumentation: String orchestra, timpani, percussion (2 players).

Duration: 4 min.

Difficulty: Advanced

Commission note: Written for an ABC radio programme marking the eighty-sixth birthday of Igor Stravinsky. The title was changed following the tragic bombing in Bali in 2002.

First performance: by Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Patrick Thomas — 2 May 68.

"Based upon a part of the first movement of my Balinese-inspired work, Tabuh Tabuhan, for wind quintet and percussion, it was originally known as From Tabuh Tabuhan. Following the tragic bombing in Bali, in 2002, I decided to change the title. The music now stands as a memorial to those who lost their lives" -- Composer's note.
