I was drawn to this and two other poems by Rainer Maria Rilke as
their subject matter, although somewhat dark, resonates with a
sense of delicate beauty amidst their spiritual undertones. 'Over
and Over' places Rilke's depictions of love and death in a
chant-like sparseness, leaving us with the final words "we
lie
down, over and over, surrounded by flowers, facing the sky".
