Work Overview
One of a collection of works rediscovered and edited by Dr. Jeanell Carrigan. However, many of Sutherland's works have been lost, including the Trio in C major for clarinet, violin and piano which received high acclaim and won an enthusiastic reception when performed to a capacity audience. It also won a major prize in an ABC's 1934-35 competition. As Sutherland wrote: "As this little trio has been several times changed over from violin-clarinet to clarinet-viola the parts do not always accord with what appear on the piano score. Scores and their impolite variety of tricks are my 'bête noire'."
