Event Details
Following up from their sold-out show at Camelot last year, 17-piece super-collective, Sirens Big Band, return with long time collaborator and mentor, Sandy Evans. Known for their exciting and engaging live shows, Sirens melds jazz with Middle Eastern, Latin and African grooves, creating original big band music from composers within and outside the band. Led by bassist Jessica Dunn, the ensemble also features Ellen Kirkwood (JRMA winner, Mister Ott, Captain Kirkwood, Fat Yahoozah), Loretta Palmeiro (Spyglass Gypsies), Lauren Benson (That Red Head, Drummer Queens) and Milan Ring (Milan, Spit Syndicate).
Sirens have performed at many major festival across Australia including Sydney Festival (2011, 2012), Brisbane Festival, Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival with Jeff Duff, Canberra’s Capital Jazz Project and SIMA International Women’s Jazz Festival with US saxophonist, Claire Daly. This is the first time Sirens will share the stage with legendary Australian saxophonist, Sandy Evans. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Evans reinterpret the Sirens repertoire.
