The six finalists were accompanied by the Australian Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Christopher Hogwood) and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Memorable performances from the solo rounds include Ayoko Uehara's brilliant 'Feux Follets' and the Shoatkovich First Piano Sonata, and Marina Kolomiitseva's enthralling 'Paganini Etudes' by Liszt.
