While using the same musical material, the three fanfares offered duration alternatives - approximately 15 seconds, 30 seconds and 45 seconds. Each begins with the same lively leapfrogging theme, with the longest fanfare having the most majestic conclusion.
Instrumentation: Piccolo, flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, bassoon/contrabassoon, 6 horns in F, 3 trumpets in C, 2 trombones, 2 bass trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion (4 players), strings.
