Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Australian music

In honour of National NAIDOC Week (7-14 July 2024), we celebrate the culture, history, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Indigenous music cultures have been passed down through generations and songlines, and continue to permeate through the music we listen to today.
We have curated a playlist of art music works by First Nations creators. These works showcase the diversity of their styles and contemporary practices, informed powerfully by Indigenous music traditions and cultures and influenced by Western art music and, in some cases, contemporary popular music.
This playlist includes works by: Aaron Wyatt, Brenda Gifford, Christopher Sainsbury, Nardi Simpson, Adam Manning, William Barton, Rhyan Clapham, Tim Gray, James Henry, Elizabeth Sheppard, Eric Avery, Mark 'Munk' Ross, Deborah Cheetham Fraillon, Marlene Cummins, and Nicole Smede.
