Work Overview
Prelude VI is a travel reminiscence from a road trip I took to the south of Spain in 2016. Some colleagues of mine from the Eastman School of Music had told me about a late-night flamenco bar in the Jewish quarter of Seville named the "Casa Anselma". The night I turned up at the bar, there were two young Spanish brides-to-be celebrating their impending marriages. One bride was wearing a sash that said: "Me cansé de vivir me caso". Not speaking Spanish, I didn't understand how humorous the sash was until my husband translated it for me as: "I'm tired of living so I'm getting married."
