Work

Whirling dance : for percussion quartet

by Robert Lloyd (1979)

Work Overview

Whirling Dance was inspired by chapters in the Persian Sufi book "The conference of the birds" by Favid ud-Din Attar conceiving the dervishes of the east. The piece is not difficult to play and is designed for drummers to enjoy the physical motion of playing the drums, feeling free to involve themselves in the ecstasy of the rhythm and of life itself.
