Brave Ghost is an up tempo energetic piece in Bb minor. It was originally composed for piano trio. This arrangement includes parts for trumpet and alto saxophone. The piece is constructed in two sections with most of the melodic material occuring over a two bar ostinato. The second section, in Ab major, acts as an 'interruption' and a bridge into the improvisation. The improvisation takes the same form as the melody, and soloists take it in turn.
Instrumentation: Trumpet, alto saxophone, piano, double bass, drums.
Duration: 7 min.
Difficulty: Medium — The piano player is required to maintain a left hand ostinato in unison with the bassist while playing right hand melody. The double bass ostinato involves double stops. The alto saxophone and trumpet parts are in unison with the piano melody.
