Digital sheet music
Digital sales continue as normal, despite our office shutdown. Digital scores (in PDF format) are cheaper than physical scores and are available for download immediately after you complete your purchase. You can access the files via your 'digital locker' and then print out the sheet music on your own printer. You are licenced to produce a single printed copy of the score, and all pages are stamped with the purchaser's name to help protect the rights of composers and prevent unauthorised copying. Composer Rosalind Carlson writes about her 2002 duo work Australian bushfire for violin and piano:
'This music is somewhat volatile, for I am tracing the course of the bushfire from its inception in the distance to its devastating damage as it passes in fury. Then the crying of the land once the fire passes, and the future renewal of the bush that will follow in time, with the regrowth of new shoots.
'As a child our family lived in the bush. Each summer I witnessed bushfires at close range. It was one of the most dramatic happenings in my young life. The smell of the fire would first alert us... '

Hundreds of CDs
Recorded in Berlin, Brisbane and Tev Aviv, this is a truly international recording. Composer Cathy Milliken recorded improvised duets with each musician and then took these recordings into a studio where she created a long musical narrative from the duet resources. The composer says, 'Gertrude Stein was inspired by the cubist painters, layering repeating images, to create a sort of three-dimensional imagery. It has a type of mesmerising effect that goes beyond the words. I was interested in seeing whether the texts stand out or merge with the music; I feel they do both.'
Building on the success of their first first Women of Note album in 2019, ABC Classic has released the second volume in their now-annual celebration of Australia's female composers. This double CD compilation includes two world premiere recordings by Indigenous Australian composers - Yorta Yorta woman, opera singer, composer and educator Deborah Cheetham, and Yuwaalaraay composer Nardi Simpson who gives us Wilga's Last Dance, honouring the only traditional melody from her people that was ever recorded.
There are also other world premiere recordings of music by Miriama Young, Mary Finsterer and Ella Macens, alongside much-loved pieces like Punch by Katy Abbott, Wild Swans suite by Elena Kats-Chernin & Village fair by Miriam Hyde.
