Listen: Music by Australian women composers

Listen: Music by Australian women composers

In celebration of International Women's Day 2024, we have compiled a playlist of music by women composers represented with the AMC.

With almost five hours of music, the playlist is curated for the curious listener to explore music by women in contemporary art music. The playlist includes works from a spectrum of styles, from the new, exploratory and experimental, to jazz and contemporary classical forms with works for orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. Celebrating the work of established composers, this playlist also gives way for emerging creators in the field.

Some of these works are single movements or a part of a larger body of work. We encourage you to listen deeply and explore the music.

You can learn more about each of these composers through their AMC represented artist profiles, and find other materials and documentation of their works. Scores and sheet music for some works may also be available to loan or puchase.

The featured composers are:
